Rules & Waiver
Every guest agrees to this before booking a stay, a session or an event at The Secret Door San Antonio, which is operated by Secret Door Society LLC. The guest who books also agrees to it for everyone on their booking.
In short: you’re 21 or older and may be asked for photo ID. You come of your own free will and can leave at any time. You take part at your own risk, follow the House Rules and the instructions of the host and event safety staff, put consent first, never record anyone, and respect everyone’s privacy. Breaking the rules can mean being asked to leave without a refund.
By ticking the box when I book, as a condition of attending, I state and agree:
1. Age and ID
I am at least 21 years old. I am taking part in a private booking or event that is not open to the general public. I may be asked to show a valid driver’s license or other government-issued photo ID with my full legal name and date of birth to prove my age and identity. I am attending of my own free will, and I may leave at any time.
2. Rules and safety staff
I will follow all posted rules of the event and of the venue, including the House Rules. Not following them breaks this agreement. Events may have designated safety staff, known as “DMs”; at other times the host fills that role. If I don’t follow the posted rules or the instructions of a DM or the host, I may be removed from part of the event, or from the event or booking entirely, without a refund. All decisions of the DM are final.
3. Risk
The activities and equipment here carry an inherent risk of physical injury or other harm. Taking part in any activity is voluntary. If I choose to take part, it is my responsibility to learn the risks of the activity and of any equipment involved, and to take part only with my fully informed consent.
4. Health and emergencies
I will tell my partners about any medical condition, injury, allergy or medication that matters, and I am responsible for deciding what is safe for me. In an emergency I agree that 911 may be called and that I may be given first aid or medical care, at my own expense.
5. Assumption of risk and release
I assume all risk of injury or physical harm that comes with attending or taking part in any activity. I agree to hold harmless Secret Door Society LLC, its owners, managers and Board of Directors, the event organizing committee, volunteer staff, members and guests, and the venue where the event takes place, its employees, property owners and their agents and successors. I give up any claim of liability that may arise from my attendance or participation. DMs take no responsibility for attendees’ safety, though they will make a best effort to help during emergencies.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY TEXAS LAW, THIS RELEASE INCLUDES CLAIMS BASED ON THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE PEOPLE AND COMPANIES NAMED ABOVE. IT DOES NOT RELEASE GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR INTENTIONAL HARM.
6. Damage and my guests
I am responsible for my own conduct and the conduct of everyone on my booking. I will pay for damage, missing items or extra cleaning we cause, as described in the Terms, and I will cover any claim brought because of something I or my guests did. Personal belongings are my own responsibility.
7. Respect
Everyone has the right to have their chosen gender identity and sexuality recognized, and to use and be known by the pronouns and other words of identity they choose. If I’m unsure of someone’s pronouns, I’ll politely ask. Intentional misgendering is unacceptable.
Anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or any drug may be refused access to activities, in the sole judgment of the DM on duty or the host.
8. Privacy
Everyone has the right to stay anonymous here. All personal information about other guests is confidential. Audio and video recording are never allowed, and photos follow the rules below.

Consequences and the fine print
Not following these rules may result in my removal without a refund, and/or further action under the by-laws of Secret Door Society LLC.
This agreement is governed by Texas law, and any dispute will be handled in Bexar County, Texas. If any part of it can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. It covers every future booking until a new version is published, and I’ll be asked to agree again when that happens.
