Read the Waiver
Rules & Waiver
Every guest agrees to this before booking a stay, a session or an event at The Secret Door San Antonio, which is operated by Secret Door Society LLC. The guest who books also agrees to it for everyone on their booking.
In short: you're 21 or older and may be asked for photo ID. You come of your own free will and can leave at any time. You take part at your own risk, follow the House Rules and the instructions of the host and event safety staff, put consent first, never record anyone, and respect everyone's privacy. Breaking the rules can mean being asked to leave without a refund.
By ticking the box when I book, as a condition of attending, I state and agree:
1. Age and ID
I am at least 21 years old. I am taking part in a private booking or event that is not open to the general public. I may be asked to show a valid driver's license or other government-issued photo ID with my full legal name and date of birth to prove my age and identity. I am attending of my own free will, and I may leave at any time.
2. Rules and safety staff
I will follow all posted rules of the event and of the venue, including the House Rules. Not following them breaks this agreement. Events may have designated safety staff, known as "DMs"; at other times the host fills that role. If I don't follow the posted rules or the instructions of a DM or the host, I may be removed from part of the event, or from the event or booking entirely, without a refund. All decisions of the DM are final.
3. Risk
The activities and equipment here carry an inherent risk of physical injury or other harm. Taking part in any activity is voluntary. If I choose to take part, it is my responsibility to learn the risks of the activity and of any equipment involved, and to take part only with my fully informed consent.
4. Health and emergencies
I will tell my partners about any medical condition, injury, allergy or medication that matters, and I am responsible for deciding what is safe for me. In an emergency I agree that 911 may be called and that I may be given first aid or medical care, at my own expense.
5. Assumption of risk and release
I assume all risk of injury or physical harm that comes with attending or taking part in any activity. I agree to hold harmless Secret Door Society LLC, its owners, managers and Board of Directors, the event organizing committee, volunteer staff, members and guests, and the venue where the event takes place, its employees, property owners and their agents and successors. I give up any claim of liability that may arise from my attendance or participation. DMs take no responsibility for attendees' safety, though they will make a best effort to help during emergencies.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY TEXAS LAW, THIS RELEASE INCLUDES CLAIMS BASED ON THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE PEOPLE AND COMPANIES NAMED ABOVE. IT DOES NOT RELEASE GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR INTENTIONAL HARM.
6. Damage and my guests
I am responsible for my own conduct and the conduct of everyone on my booking. I will pay for damage, missing items or extra cleaning we cause, as described in the Terms, and I will cover any claim brought because of something I or my guests did. Personal belongings are my own responsibility.
7. Respect
Everyone has the right to have their chosen gender identity and sexuality recognized, and to use and be known by the pronouns and other words of identity they choose. If I'm unsure of someone's pronouns, I'll politely ask. Intentional misgendering is unacceptable.
Anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or any drug may be refused access to activities, in the sole judgment of the DM on duty or the host.
8. Privacy
Everyone has the right to stay anonymous here. All personal information about other guests is confidential. Audio and video recording are never allowed, and photos follow the rules below.
9. What I may see
I may be exposed to nudity, sexual activity, bondage and discipline, sadomasochism, and power exchange between consenting adults. None of these subjects or activities is offensive or objectionable to me in any way.
10. Consent and the house safeword
Being here does not mean or imply consent to any contact or activity with anyone. I must get consent from other people before any contact or activity with them. Consent can be withdrawn at any time, and then all contact or activity must stop immediately. Any consent incident should be reported to a DM, the host or the management of Secret Door Society LLC.
The house safeword at all times is "RED." Calling "RED" means the person wants all activity to stop immediately, or as soon as it is safe. DMs will respond and, if necessary, step in whenever a call of "RED" is ignored.
11. Nothing illegal, no payment for play
No illegal activity of any kind is tolerated. Asking for or negotiating any form of payment in exchange for sexual or BDSM activity is forbidden; it is illegal under Texas state and local law.
12. Photography
Photography is a risky activity, like many BDSM activities between consenting adults. Audio and video recording is not allowed in public or private areas. Still photography is not allowed in public areas without a DM's permission and supervision.
No photo may show the location's signage, exterior, or distinctive interior features or decor. Before taking photos in a public area, I must get a DM's permission; the DM will make sure no other people, and nothing that could identify people or the location, is in the photo. DMs may refuse photography at any time without giving a reason, and may require me to delete any photo that shows other people or anything that could identify people or the location.
If any unauthorized photography or recording happens, this agreement gives Secret Door Society LLC the right to confiscate the camera or recording device used, and to remove, erase or destroy any film, tape or electronic media. Unauthorized photography or recording is considered unlawful surveillance.
Consequences and the fine print
Not following these rules may result in my removal without a refund, and/or further action under the by-laws of Secret Door Society LLC.
This agreement is governed by Texas law, and any dispute will be handled in Bexar County, Texas. If any part of it can't be enforced, the rest still applies. It covers every future booking until a new version is published, and I'll be asked to agree again when that happens.
